Upon arrival in Kilimanjaro we will be transferred to our lodge in Moshi. Here we will have some time to relax at the very comfortable family run lodge. There is a swimming pool and a well-stocked bar.
In the morning we have a 30min transfer out of Moshi and away from its busy roads. Our ride today is a prefect warm up for the week ahead as we cycle over a mixture of tarmac and hard packed dirt roads to Chala Campsite. Once at the camp there is the option to go on a trek with the guide down to Lake Chala, the lake attracts lots of wildlife so make sure you take your camera! Chala has six separate camps, three near the main toilet block and three further out into the bush for anyone feeling adventurous! The camp has a well-stocked bar and great facilities.
Today is the first big ride of the week as we cycle over a couple of challenging climbs through the foot hills of Mt Kilimanjaro. Most of the ride is on gravel roads and through dense forest, if we are lucky we will see Colobus Monkeys and exotic birds in the trees. The final 30km is on tarmac roads as we head in to Rongai. Overnight at a small campsite in Rongai Village.
On today’s ride we pass through small villages and lush forests as we make our way across to west Kilimanjaro. We are treated to spectacular views over the vast plains of Kenya and the Amboseli National Park as well as incredible views of Mt Kilimanjaro. Our ride ends at Simba Farm campsite, this campsite is a working farm and situated over 3,500 acres of rolling hills. Here we can relax and take in the views of Mt Kilimanjaro to the east and Mt Meru to the west.
After breakfast we set out from Simba farm for our last day of cycling. Today’s ride has fantastic view as we cycle between the towering Mt Kilimanjaro and Mt Meru. We pass through lots of small towns today so there will be plenty of opportunities to stop in small shops and cafes. We stop cycling in the small town of Boma Ngombe, from here we have a 1.5 hour transfer to the Ilboru Safari Lodge. The Lodge is a lovely place to stay, it has a great swimming pool and well-stocked bar making it the perfect place to celebrate at the end of the tour.
After a superb buffet breakfast at the lodge we will transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport, where the trip ends. It is possible to extend your stay in the Ilboru Lodge, Arusha; please ask one of our sales team for prices and availability.
